The Science Olympiad team attended its second competition on Saturday, February 20th, after much studying and preparation in the months leading up. High Tech High Science Olympiad's first ever award went to Emily Hayashida and Zoha Rashid, who got 20th place in Write It, Do It. In this event, one student receives an object to build, and they create a set of instructions on how to build it. Then the second student then builds the object using those instructions.
High schools from all around San Diego County gathered together to solve math and science based questions about each science. Topics included climate change, the reproductive and immune system, forensics, and analysis of the population growth. Other topics had students building miniature Rube Goldbergs and miniature airplanes, a bungee drop, and solving technical problems.
Thank you to all of the students and teachers who helped Science Olympiad this season. If you would like to join Science Olympiad, please e-mail [email protected].
